Persecutions. China

In China, the Government has rejected a Government-commissioned report by a prominent Chinese scholar, Yu Jianrong that suggested the Government offer legal standing to house church Christians. Instead the Government has reacted with raids, arrests, forced church closures and a ban on the Chinese Federation of Christian House Churches. The research, the first of its kind commissioned by the Chinese Government showed that there are between 45-60 million protestant house church Christians. A further 18-30 million attend Government approved Churches. On June 24 police detained church leaders in Shaanxi Province for 10days. On June 14, officials stopped a service and detained 6 Christians. Source: Intercessors Network.
