Iraq Persecution

Open Doors reports that Christians were killed in various places in Mosul, Iraq on Feb 16. Christians are being targeted inside their homes and killed. Several have been killed at checkpoints. University Christian students are also targeted, being pointed out be fellow students and taken away and killed. Last Monday gunmen opened fire on two Christian students, and on the same day a Christian grocery store owner was killed, while another was shot in front of his house. There are around 250,000 to 300,000 Christians in the Nineveh province, of which Mosul is the capital.

Action: Open Doors asks people to pray for the protection of Christians in the recent escalation of violence and to pray that the people of Mosul will repent, as they have in the past. (Mosul’s ancient name is Nineveh)
