Christian Democratic Party candidate for the Oct 2, 2010 Armadale by-election, Jamie van Burgel, is seeking helpers to walk through his electorate helping to do letter box drops as part of his campaign. He is also looking for people to hand out how to vote card on by-election day Oct 2, 2010.

Christian School Fears

The Labor-Greens alliance raises significant concerns for non-government schools generally and Christian Schools in particular, according to the Christian Schools Association. Children Sought

The Commissioner for Children and Young People in WA is calling for expressions of interest from groups of children and young people interested in becoming her next Advisory Committees for 2011. The aim of the advisory group is to guide the commissioner in her work. This year the Beckenham Primary School Student Council and Geraldton’s Indigenous Youth Council fulfilled the role. Sought is an existing group of children or young people, such as a classroom. EOI should be lodged by Oct 15, 2010.

Tassie Trouble

Damien Brown report in the Mercury, Sept 17, 2010 that Tasmania’s school psychologists are overwhelmed with children as young as eight, showing signs of depression, threatening to kill themselves and acting like thugs. Transgender Support

The WA Govt funded, Equal Opportunity Commission has called for changes to laws to give equal opportunity to the transgender community. Commissioner Yvonne Henderson said: “The transition process including expensive genital reconstruction surgery required for people to obtain a Gender Reassignment Certificate can be dangerous and may take years to complete. In that time period transgender people need to be protected from the distressing discrimination that can be encountered during the transition process.”

Morning After Pill

The Spanish Institute for Family Policy says that the widespread distribution of the morning-after pill in Spain is distorting the number of abortions in the country, rather than reducing it.
