WA Prostitution Bill

The WA Govt is seeking comment on the draft Prostitution Bill by 29 July 2011. Details:

The WA Government’s Draft Bill on prostitution was released June 14. People have until July 29 to make comment on the draft bill which could be tabled in Parliament in August. The Australian Christian Lobby says it is still a good time to write to local MPs. The proposed prostitution model will, for the first time, legalise prostitution in WA.

Abortion Stats

The Dept of Health in WA has released a report “Induced Abortions in Western Australia 2006-09, Report on the WA Abortion Notification System. In 2009, the number of WA abortions was 8885, a rate of 19.1 per 1000 women of reproductive age. This compares with 8.6 per 1000 women in Holland, 7.3 per 1000 in Germany. On May 24, about 550 people attended the Perth Rally for Life organised by the Coalition for the Defence of Human Life.

Busselton Letter Writing

Homeless Grows

The rate of use of government-funded specialist homelessness services has increased in recent years, according to the latest annual report on homelessness released today by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW). In 2009-10, 219,900 people (or 1 in every 100 Australians) used government-funded specialist homelessness services.
