Islam dialogue

There is an open seminar on Islam by Samuel Green at Riverton Baptist Church Sept 4th 2011, 2:30-4:30pm. The purpose is to ‘provide an overview of the beliefs of Islam and helpful ways in which ordinary Christians can engage in meaningful dialogue with their Muslim friends, workmates, and colleagues.’ For more: http://www.engaging-with-islam.info

On Aug 17, 2011, Kate Doust MLC tabled 4945 petitions from the Coalition for the Defence of Human Life in the WA Parliament. The petition called for an inquiry into post-20 week abortions performed in WA.

Nefarious Screening

The Australian Christian Lobby reports that a crowd of 750 people attended the Perth premier screening of Nefarious: Merchant of Souls. 10 politicians also watched the doc at a screening at Parliament House. The documentary showed that legalisation of prostitution only legitimises the exploitation of women and pointed to Sweden as a beacon of hope in showing other countries how to reduce the amount of prostitution and human trafficking.
