Ireland’s first abortion clinic opens

On Oct 18 2012 Ireland’s first abortion clinic was opened to protests from Catholics and Protestants. It is operated by international abortion conglomorate Marie Stopes. About 200 people protested as the doors opened to the Belfast clinic waving placards reading “Keep Ireland abortion free”. It will offer the abortion pill to women who are less than 9 weeks pregnant if doctors determine the woman is at risk of death or long-term health damage from their pregnancy. Ireland maintains strong laws to prevent abortion compared to other countries such as the US or Australia. For story click here.
