State Homosexual Marriage Laws Unconstitutional

Murdoch University senior lecturer in constitutional law and associate dean (research) Augusto Zimmermann reports in News Weekly (Oct 13 2012) that the push by Labor and the Greens to introduce same sex “marriage” laws in State Parliament is unconstitutional. He writes that any such legislation would be subject to disallowance by the High Court as the Australian Constitution gives the Commonwealth parliament authority to makes laws with respect to marriage.
