Tassie Abortion Push

The public submission period of the Tasmanian legalising abortion push has been extended to 5 April 2013.

Jacquie Petrusma MP is sponsoring an e-petition on late term abortions.

More than 80 people attended a silent protest against the proposed abortion law changes according to a report in the Examiner.

The Tasmanian Govt is proposing to legalise abortion in Tasmania and remove criminal sanctions for woman and doctors. According to the Tasmanian Department of Health and Human Services website, the current laws are “out of step with advances in safe medical practices and community expectations.”

The website says the Department wants to ensure that the law is “not a barrier to vital reproductive health services and to improve the health and wellbeing of Tasmanian women.” Tasmanian Health Minister Michelle O’Byrne is behind the legislation.O’Byrne is a member of Emily’s List, the group of Labor women who support abortion.

Fred Nile’s Easter Message

Addressing Parlimanet on March 25 2013, Rev Fred Nile MLC, leader of the Christian Democratic Party, stressed the importance of Easter and the need to repent to receive eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. He quoted from John 3:16. Rev Nile said: “It is wonderful that God did so love the world that he gave his only begotten son. With that simple truth, it is a wonder that not everyone is a Christian.”  ”I urge everyone to give serious thought to the meaning of Easter this coming weekend.” To see speech from Hansard click here.
