Bunbury ABC presenter reinstated

An ABC presenter stood down because she did the voice over to a anti homosexual ‘marriage’ ad has been reinstated.

Casual presenter Suzanne McGill was taken off air when it was revealed she was the voice behind a Katter’s Australia Party ad opposing gay marriage.

The ABC stood down Ms McGill pending an investigation and said she had not sought permission for external voice-over work.

Yesterday, an ABC spokeswoman said Ms McGill had been counselled regarding workplace policies and was allowed to go back on air. Source: The West Australian

Outdoor Advertising Inquiry

Melinda Tankard Reist reports that a parliamentary report into outdoor advertising recommends a more rigorous system of self-regulation. However, the Communications Council welcomed the report saying that it vindicated the current system of self-regulation. The 19 recommendations include a recommendation to amend its Advertising Code of Ethics. The new report came a fortnight after a report into the National Classification Scheme which recommended that outdoor advertising should be placed within the national classification scheme.

The Outdoor Media Association has announced that it was reviewing its current self regulation system.

Movie Reviews

Winnie the Pooh

“Very strong moral worldview with some redemptive content such as sacrificing to help others and characters support, love and help each other, no foul language, profanities.” For more http://www.movieguide.org/reviews/movie/winnie-the-pooh.html

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

Mixed pagan worldview with some strong occult elements that include witchcraft and getting help from speaking to ghosts and some Christian allegorical elements that are surprisingly overt and redemptive and will remind some of Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross and His resurrection. For more: http://www.movieguide.org/reviews/movie/harry-potter-and-the-deathly-hallows-part-ii.html

Green Lantern

“Hal Jordan’s story of victory over evil in GREEN LANTERN is a story that all of us should take to heart. As the great politician and political philosopher Edmund Burke once said, evil always prevails when good people decide to do nothing.

Of course, as the Apostle Paul notes in Titus 2:11-14, it’s ultimately God’s Grace in our Savior Jesus Christ and His sacrifice, working through us, that teaches and enables us to reject evil, live moral lives and do good works.” For more: http://www.movieguide.org/reviews/movie/green-lantern.html

Movie Reviews

Bridesmaids

(MA+ in Aust, R in USA). Focus on the Family says it contains at least 20 f-words, 30 s-words, God’s name is misused almost 20 times. “Gross-out humour, grimy language and bad, badder and baddest behaviour is written clearly across this film—sometimes in all caps” For review: http://www.pluggedin.com/movies/intheaters/bridesmaids.aspx

The Hangover 2

(MA+ Aust, R in USA) From Movieguide.org: Very strong pagan, hedonistic worldview full of debauchery and homosexual characters, transvestites and man commits fornication with transsexual, Buddhist monks depicted meditating and lighting candles in front of shrine, and one man proudly embraces his dark side by saying he “has a demon inside”; 122 obscenities, 18 profanities. For more: http://movieguide.org/reviews/movie/the-hangover-2.html

From Focus on the Family: “In the Hollywood mindset it doesn’t matter that the viewing public is bit by bit becoming callused and, with repeated exposure, changed by this kind of subversive and morally vacuous pulp that somebody out there thinks of as humour.” Focus on the Family Review: http://www.pluggedin.com/movies/intheaters/hangoverpartii.aspx

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

Movieguide.org: “Strong, somewhat mixed pagan worldview with strong occult, moral, redemptive, and anti-fascist/socialist elements including a rejection of using magic and witchcraft for control and power but the “heroes” also use magic and witchcraft, including wands and spells.” For more: http://movieguide.org/reviews/movie/harry-potter-and-the-deathly-hallows-part-1.html

Oceans

“Full of majesty and wonder, OCEANS puts on display God’s creation and what the ocean has to offer, great and small.” “However, God is not given credit as Creator for these wonders, and there are some strong environmentalist elements showing polar icecaps breaking off in the wake of alleged global warming. If the viewer can see past that, they will find a beautiful, lush view of God’s creation waiting for them here.” For more: http://movieguide.org/reviews/movie/oceans.html
