Elaine Nile Funeral

ON Oct 26, 2011 about 800 attended the funeral of the Hon Elaine Nile, wife of Rev Fred Nile and former member of the NSW Parliament for the Christian Democratic Party. Mrs Nile organised the liturgy for the funeral. Those attending included members from various political parties including the Premier and leader of the Opposition. The Message of Faith, Hope and Love, based on 1 Corinthians 13:13 was presented by the Reverend Dr Ross Clifford. Principal, Morling Bible and Theological College.

CDP Convention

On 19 Nov, 2011 the CDP Convention and Youth Forum will be held. It will include parliamentarians from both sides of politics as well as a panel of WA Christian leaders. In the afternoon the CDP AGM will be held as well as a speaker from Focus on the Youth. A panel discussion on the way ahead for Christian youth action and the influence in the public square will include Jamie van Burgel, Daniel Reed and an ACL and YWAM representative. Nile Prayer Request

Rev Fred Mile has requested ongoing persistent prayer for Elaine Nile, following her major unsuccessful operation on 11 August 2011 to remove a tumour. The Christian Democratic Party WA writes: We commit this prayer request to the Lord of eternal life. In Him we trust.”

CDP Field Days

Agriculture Region Christian Democratic Party candidate Trevor Young is doing another tour of agricultural shows in WA. They say it has been successful in promoting the CDP in country areas. Look for the CDP at: Dowerin Field Days (24-25 Aug, 2011), Newdegate Field Days (7-8 Sept, 2011), Mingenew Expo (15-16 Sept), Albany Show (11-12 Nov), They are also hoping to be at the Esperance and Busselton shows later in the year.

NSW Election

The Christian Democratic in the NSW parliament regained a seat at the State election that was held March 26. Paul Green was elected and will sit alongside Fred Nile. They will hold the balance of power along with the Shooters Party. Gordon Moyles who left the CDP in the last term and joined with Family First, lost his seat. The Greens performed below expectations and have lost their balance of power to the CDP.

Alcohol Ads

Rev Fred Nile, leader of the Christian Democratic Party has introduced the ‘Alcoholic Beverages Advertising Prohibition Bill 2010′ into the NSW Parliament. It seeks to prohibit alcohol advertising in NSW.

CDP AGM

The Christian Democratic Party of WA held its AGM November 22, 2010. Elected to the State Council were Jacky Young (also state treasurer), Steve Klomp and Bob Burdett. The CDP is planning to implement a business plan next year to revitalise the party to become truly national with the strength to stop or eclipse the Greens.
