Puberty in Health and Physical Education Curriculum

The Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority has released the final shape paper which proposes a sequence of learning that covers a range of key concepts in Health and Physical Education across the years of schooling. These include:   healthy choices, movement skills and strategies, physical activity participation, relationships, growing and changing, personal identities and resilience.

The focus of learning in “growing and changing” will be on the ways that the body grows and changes as students get older.

The community will have opportunity to provide feedback when the draft curriculum is released for national consultation in early 2013.

AD and BC Dropped

The Australian National History Curriculum plans to replace long-held terms BC (Before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini) by “neutral” terms BCE (Before Common Era), BP (Before Present) and CE (Common Era).
