Organised by Christian Gleanings, Dr Ted Baehr is coming to Perth May 22 to May 27 2013.

Dr Ted Baehr is the founder of Good News Communications, Inc., MOVIEGUIDE & the Christian Film & Television Commission Ministry.

There is opportunity to hear him speak at the following:

Thursday 23 May, 6.30pm: Dr Ted Baehr from movieguide.org will address the 3rd speakers forum of the Dawson Society for Philiosophy and Culture. He will speak on “Virtue in an age of global entertainment: We’re not in Kansas or Kiev anymore.” It will be held at Rosie O’Grady, James St, Northbridge, starting at 6.30pm. Dinner costs $25. Tassie Abortion Push

The public submission period of the Tasmanian legalising abortion push has been extended to 5 April 2013. 

Jacquie Petrusma MP is sponsoring an e-petition on late term abortions. 

More than 80 people attended a silent protest against the proposed abortion law changes according to a report in the Examiner. 

The Tasmanian Govt is proposing to legalise abortion in Tasmania and remove criminal sanctions for woman and doctors. According to the Tasmanian Department of Health and Human Services website, the current laws are “out of step with advances in safe medical practices and community expectations.”

The website says the Department wants to ensure that the law is “not a barrier to vital reproductive health services and to improve the health and wellbeing of Tasmanian women.” Tasmanian Health Minister Michelle O’Byrne is behind the legislation.O’Byrne is a member of Emily’s List, the group of Labor women who support abortion.

Action: FamilyVoice Australia and Saltshakers is asking people in Tasmania to let their views known. The Department of of Health and Human Services is inviting comments to the draft Reproductive Health (Access to Terminations) Bill setting out a revised legal framework. An information paper is also available.

Action: Tasmanian MP Jacquie Petrusma is sponsoring an e-petition on late term abortion. To sign the petition click here. The closing date to sign the petition is 10 April. As at 26 March, 825 people had signed the petition.

Action: makeastand.org.au is asking people to write to their MP voicing opposition to the proposed abortion laws. As of March 26, 2013 more than 1000 people had used this service.

Australian Muslims Embark on PR Drive

An organisation called ‘My Peace’ is developing a PR project to address the ‘misconceptions on Islam that exist today.’

It will use main stream media and an advertising campaign and hopes to ‘show the Australian public and people from across the world the essence of Islam and all that it offers.’ My Peace is seeking copy writers, grahpic designers, It, legal and Dawah experts.

Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Bill 2012

The Exposure Draft of Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Bill 2012 is being reviewed by the Federal Parliament’s Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs. Submissions to the inquiry closed 21 Dec 2012 and a inquiry report is due on 18 Feb 2013.
