Christian Persecutions

The Middle East Forum reports that St Paul’s church in Mardan, Pakistan was attacked in October by hundreds of Muslims. They set the church on fire. They then burnt down a nearby church-run school including a library containing more than 3000 christian books. Also in Pakistan, gunmen openned fire on the St Francis Xavier Catholic Cathedral in Hyderabad, killing at least 28 people. For story click here. 

In Egypt, the Kasr El-Dobora, the largest evangelical church in the Middle East was besieged on Sept 13 by people hurling stones and gas bombs. The first gas bomb was described as an error by police but more bombs followed. Worshipers locked themselves inside the church and put on masks to avoid gas poisoning. For story click here. 

In the Maldives airport officials seized 11 books about Christianity. 

In Bangladesh, a new report indicated that some 300 Christian children were recently abducted and forcibly converted to Islam. The children are sold to Islamic schools where they are converted to Islam. For story click here.

Christian persecutions.

The Middle East Forum reports in its list of muslim persecutions of christians that religious police raided a Methodist church event due to fears that muslims were being converted.The Armenian Evangelical Church in Tehran, Iran was ordered to cease to hold Persian services on Friday. The authorities warned that the church building would be bombed if the order was ignored. In Kenya, a band of muslims launched a grenade attack on a crowd of 150 Christians attending an outdoor church meeting, killing two. The muslims were said to be hyped into action by a muslim preacher holidng a rally only 900 feet from the Christian gathering.

Kuwait Church Ban

Algeria Church Ransacked

The Middle East Forum February update says Armed men raided and ransacked a church formally recognized since 1958, dismantling the crucifix above the premises. The pastor and his family, trapped inside, feared that “they could kill us.” The pastor “has been repeatedly threatened and attacked since being ordained as pastor in 2007. In the summer of 2009 his wife was beaten and seriously injured by a group of unknown men. Then, in late 2011, heaps of trash were thrown over the compound walls while an angry mob shouted death threats. For story click here.
