Organised by Christian Gleanings, Dr Ted Baehr is coming to Perth May 22 to May 27 2013.

Dr Ted Baehr is the founder of Good News Communications, Inc., MOVIEGUIDE & the Christian Film & Television Commission Ministry.

There is opportunity to hear him speak at the following:

Thursday 23 May, 6.30pm: Dr Ted Baehr from movieguide.org will address the 3rd speakers forum of the Dawson Society for Philiosophy and Culture. He will speak on “Virtue in an age of global entertainment: We’re not in Kansas or Kiev anymore.” It will be held at Rosie O’Grady, James St, Northbridge, starting at 6.30pm. Dinner costs $25. Friday 24 May, 6pm: Dr Ted Baehr will speak on “Understanding the Mass Media’s Influence on Today’s Culture”. Mardi Gras cause to Celebrate: Australian Human Rights Commission

Pro-Euthanasia WA Candidates Supported

The WA Voluntary Euthanasia Society ran a half page advert in the West Australian, March 6, page 21 listing pro-euthanasia candidates in the WA election. The advert ask people to vote for ‘End of Life Choice’.

It lists 16 pro-euthanasia candidates, including the 4 Greens, 8 Labor: Sue Ellery (also Emily’s List), Adele Farina, Sally Talbot (also Emily’s List),Ken Travers, Roger Cook, Mark McGowan, John Hyde, David Templeman.

Also included in the list was John McGrath, (Liberal), and Terry Redman (Nationals).

Meanwhile Paul Russell, from HOPE, an organisation working to fight against the Euthanasia culture in WA, has released comprehensive results of candidates views on euthanasia. Curriculum for Comment

The Draft Shape of the Australian Curriculum: Civics and Citizenship is released for consultation until Aug 10, 2012. As proposed in the draft paper, students will learn about the importance as well as nature of our Parliamentary democracy, the rule of law, our diverse civic and political institutions, and the various ways in which members of society can participate and contribute.

A Christian Response to Abortion

About 150 people attended the Association for Reformed Political Action meeting in Southern Riverwith a presentation by Lyn Schoof, from Pregnancy Problem House in Albany. She spoke about the effect of abortion on women, men and society and about the setting up of the Pregnancy Problem House in Albany. Discussed was also the possiblity of setting up a PPH in Fremantle.

Govt funded Islam evangelism

Babette Francis reports in the Feb 2012 Endeavour Forum newsletter that the Australian Govt is promoting Islam in Australia. The Gillard Govt has spent more than $9.7m for the purpose of ‘developing and implementing activities that assist the Islamic Society of Victoria to dispel myths and misconceptions about Islam and Muslims. Babette reports that the government is funding overseas religion workers paying them a salary of $66,000 per year to preach Islam in Australia.
